Can wireless earphones be source of carcinogenic radio waves?

Experts and researchers signed a petition to the UN (United Nations) and WHO (World Health Organization) to regulate the use of wireless earphones.

They pointed out that these type of electromagnetic frequencies (Bluetooth) that these devices use to transfer data should be reason for concerns as they are being used too close to the brain.

According to Jerry Phillips, a professor of biochemistry at the University of Colorado, the placement of these headphones in the ear canal might expose tissues in the head to a relatively high levels of radio-frequency radiation. Phillips is one of the many scientists who suggested a restriction on use of such gadgets.


"The petition reads, “Based upon peer-reviewed, published research, we have serious concerns regarding the ubiquitous and increasing exposure to EMF generated by electric and wireless devices.

It goes on to say that the risk of cancer, neurological disorders, and DNA damage that have been associated with EMF exposure cannot be ignored."


The WHO created guidelines that regulate the amount of EMF a devices is allowed to emit. The petition adds, “The various agencies setting safety standards have failed to impose sufficient guidelines to protect the general public, particularly children who are more vulnerable to the effects of EMF. By not taking action, the WHO is failing to fulfil its role as the preeminent international public health agency.”


The guidelines say that phones should be kept away from the body.


It is not easy to avoid using these devices in our age, but if you are concerned about the long-term health effects of this radiation, the best you can do is to decrease the amount of time that you spend with these gadgets in your ears. Use the speaker as often as possible to keep the distance from your phone and don't be afraid of listening to the nature, your thoughts, or the sound of the street from time to time instead of plugging your ears with earphones.

  1. Use a wired phone rather than a cordless phone

  2. Disable Bluetooth and wireless on your phone only use when needed

  3. Leave your phone further from the bed

  4. Find a spot for your bed further away from the outlets

  5. Use speaker

  6. Shield your bedroom against EMF radiation

  7. Remove TV from bedroom

  8. Use Ethernet cable instead of Wi-Fi

  9. If necessary use wired headset instead of a wireless one

This way you will rest better and you can give your body and mind some time to recover after a long day surrounded by possibly harmful radiations.
